Wonder Girls to cancel their US Tour

4 02 2010

It was reported earlier that the Wonder Girls was postponing their US album back to March-April due to the departure of Sun Mi. Now JoongAng Daily is reporting that the Wonder Girls will be canceling their US Tour altogether.

The article reads:

The Korean pop group Wonder Girls have cancelled their headlining. Tour of the United States, which was supposed to start at the end of February.

It seems all of these decisions were made after one of their members, the 18-year-old Sun Mi, called it quits last month to return to school. The CEO of the company that manages the group, JYP Entertainment’s Park Jin-young, first cancelled the U.S. tour and postponed their U.S. debut album release for April.

“The upcoming tour wasn’t going as planned and postponing their U.S. album release was an inevitable situation,” said a spokesman from JYP Entertainment.

Park’s decisions for the temporary break are seen as a way to give the 18-year-old Hye Rim, Sun Mi’s replacement, time to ease in to performing with the group. According to Park, they plan to resume their original plans after she’s completely adjusted.

Aww….I was looking forward to this. And I’m sure it would’ve been awesome too. I wish I could just see them before Sunmi officially departs from the group. =( *sighs* It’s for the best.

Wonder Girls postpone release of their first US album

2 02 2010

The Wonder Girls were planning on releasing their first US English album in February. Unfortunately, there is a bit of bad news for fans. As if Sunmi’s withdrawal wasn’t enough, the album has now been postponed for a March-April release. But somehow, I saw this coming.

JYP Entertainment said, “Wonder Girls were planning on releasing their album this month. But since Sunmi has decided to leave the group recently, the release of the album is most likely postponed to March or April.”

Since Sunmi is going back to Korea in March to focus on her education, Sunmi will not be a part of this new album at all. JYPE says that Sunmi is not working on the album right now and the parts that Sunmi had already recorded, will be re-recorded with new member Hae Lim. The songs that have not been recorded yet, will of course have Hae Lim and not Sunmi.

Wonder Girls are back in Korea but without Sunmi; Sunye came back early to see new Wonder Girls member Hae Lim

31 01 2010

In preparation for their Chinese promotions which will begin in February, the Wonder Girls have returned to Korea – without member Sunmi (or Lim).

Sunye flew to Korea earlier this week on January 25, and Yeeun, Yoobin and Sohee returned two days later on the 27th. Sunmi is reportedly remaining in order to continue the WG schedule in America.

———————————-

The American-based Wonder Girls have secretly returned to South Korea. The short homecoming is facilitate China promotions during early February. But because of the related problem of SunMi’s departure, whether the fans can meet with Wonder Girls has become a focus of attention.

If Sunmi decides to comeback in the group JYP would be okay with it.

28 01 2010

JYP Entertainment stated:

“We did not expect Sunmi to withdraw from the group and all of our commitments stated that the Wonder Girls are a 5 member group. Furthermore, the parties that we had commitments with all showed disapproval to a 4 member Wonder Girls. We had discussions with the 4 members, who all agreed to Hae Lim joining, which is why the decision was made.”

In addition, JYP Entertainment stated:

“Although there is an issue with the Wonder Girls becoming a 4 member group after Sunmi’s decision to leave, later on, if Sunmi wishes to return as a member of the Wonder Girls, there are no issues with the group gaining an additional member. If Sunmi wishes to return later on, we will respect her decision as well as the other members’ decisions and follow.”

This should’ve put the Wonderfuls at ease, as it is great news, however they responded with:

“We cannot agree to this statement that 4 members are an issue but 6 members aren’t.”
